FAQs
Are you new to the spoodle breed? Do you need to know more about the process of buying a Hallmark puppy?
Please read through the FAQs.
What are you currently breeding?
We are specialists in breeding spoodles, which are bred from a cocker spaniel crossed with a miniature poodle. We love their bright and friendly nature, and want to provide the best family-friendly dogs.
We will be breeding cavoodles (King Charles Cavalier x miniature poodle) again from mid 2026, watch this space! Cavoodles are affectionate and gentle, known as 'love sponges', and are the ideal companion for elders and/or less active families.
Periodically, we will have purebred English Cocker Spaniels available in 2026. We love these dogs for their vigour and cheerfulness, they are guaranteed to be wagging their tails.
Why spoodles?
We love spoodles because they are a robust, active, friendly and loving breed. All of our spoodles are F1 crosses and have less likelihood of inheriting genetic diseases that occur with pedigree dogs. Spoodles also have a wool coat which is hypoallergenic. Overall, they are a happy and healthy dog.
Do you have young, active children? Are you into trail running and fitness? A spoodle is the ideal training buddy once s/he is mature!
Is there any difference between boy/girl puppies?
Generally, there is no difference in temperament or behaviour once desexed, which largely depends on the puppy’s personality and the upbringing they receive from their FURever family. There may be exceptions in a few cases, where there are multiple girls in a household…
How big do spoodles grow?
Spoodles reach adulthood at approximately one year of age, and will be ~35-40 cm in height and ~10 kg in weight. They are a small to medium sized dog.
Can we view the puppies?
Yes- we periodically have open days where you can interact with our puppies and meet their mums. Open days are advertised to everyone on our waitlist, on our website, and Facebook and Instagram pages, once we advertise a litter.
What do I feed the puppy?
We feed the puppies Blackhawk puppy food. A sample is included in the puppy pack to mix in with the puppy food you purchase, should you wish to change brands. For convenience we sell Blackhawk bags of 20Kgs when you pick up your puppy.
What is the process of buying a puppy from you?
Please get in touch with us to register your interest via email, or send us a message via 'contact us' on this website, with your preferences (e.g., sex, coat colour) and when you are looking to take a puppy home.
We will get in touch with available puppies, or with an ETA on upcoming litters and place you on our waitlist, if required.
Once
We have many repeat customers including those who bought a dog from our first litters in 2007, which is a testament to our dedication as a spoodle breeder. Often they come to meet their new puppy at open days and can share their experiences with you.
I’m interested in buying a puppy from Hallmark Kennels, but I’m not quite ready - will I be considered?
Not to worry– we have a waitlist for prospective FURever families. If you decide now is not the right time for a puppy, we are happy to place you on our waitlist with your preference (e.g., a golden girl). You will be notified when a new litter arrives, before we advertise to the public. We leave people on this list for a few years so if you're not quite ready when a litter become available you will be notified of the next litter.
We would rather you are fully prepared to take on the responsibility to raise a puppy, instead of rushing into buying one. Please, fix the fence/ puppy-proof your house/ survive the project deadline/ look after the new baby first!
We are going on holiday, can we board our spoodle with you?
Yes! We do private boarding by arrangment for the dogs we have bred.
